SUPERNOVA
1987A
One
of the most fantastic and unknown phenonemons in the
universe is that of a supernova explosion. These have been
observed on Earth for hundereds of years and have been
recorded by many ancient civilisations. This article is an
exploration of the most recent close supernova, that of the
Large Magellanic Cloud in the southern hemisphere. It
explains some of the discoveries, theories and problems that
surround these gigantic explosions. Click the link above to

THE ANTHROPIC PRINCIPLE
Is
it pure chance that we evolved as humans here on Earth, or
was it all part of the recipe that helped create the
Universe? If just one of the constants of nature, such as
the charge on the electron or the speed of light were
slightly different, then it is quite possible that we would
not be here to discuss it. In this article, the two main
schools of thought are explored to try and find why the
Universe was created the way it was. Click the link above to

QUASARS
It is
not quite known what exactly quasars are, where they come
from or how they produce the ammount of light that they do.
What is known is that these strange objects are so far away,
the light they emit left it when the Universe was still in
its' infancy. Since the launch of the Hubble Space
Telescope, images of these objects have been taken to try
and help us understand what they are. Click the link above

FUSION
Fusion
is the nuclear process that occurs deep inside the sun. You
need very high temperatures and densities for it to happen.
This article explores recent research in this field and the
implications for mankind. Click the link above to go to the
